Bobbi Jene Smith is an American dancer of remarkable talent, image and personality. In 2005, she decided to move to Israel to dance with the legendary Batsheva Dance Company under the direction of world-renowned dancer and choreographer Ohad Naharin.

It was Naharin who influenced her approach to dance and body and, what's more, authorized her to teach a movement technique he created called Gaga. However, after a successful stellar career with the Batsheva Dance Company that spanned more than a decade, to everyone's surprise, Smith decided to leave Israel and her life partner. She chose to return to the United States and fight for her own artistic independence. Her goal was to free herself from the influence and shadow of her famous mentor-artist and create her own interdisciplinary, personal dance performances that break boundaries and stereotypes about the body and dance.

The film shows not only the exceptional talent and individuality of this talented dancer. It also portrays a particular stage in her biography when she decided to leave the comfortable life of a star and risk fighting for herself. However, the process of developing her own artistic independence took place in a space and configuration that was new to her. The film shows the consequences of Smith's radical and seemingly surprising decisions. It also presents the dilemmas that accompanied them and the inevitable consequences of her desire to achieve her life's ambitions. It is also a portrait of a woman's struggle for independence, including that from men, and of Smith's attempts to succeed with her art in the highly competitive world of contemporary dance.
