In the film, we witness affection erupt between two teenagers, which will quickly and tragically end. Sixteen-year-old Alexis has just moved with his parents to Normandy. He has a literary flair, a curiosity about the world, and an obsession with death. When one day he goes too far out on his small boat, he is rescued by a stranger - the statuesque beautiful and confident David. Alexis loses his mind over him, but their happiness together doesn't last long... and ends up in a courtroom. In this atmospheric coming-of-age story, master filmmaker François Ozon (Swimming Pool, 8 Women, Young and Beautiful) deftly interweaves romance with crime, fuelling the atmosphere of mystery and the scale of teenage emotions. The atmosphere of the film is created by the perfectly recreated 1980s - carefully matched costumes and soundtrack, for which Jean-Benoit Dunckel (member of the Air duo) is responsible. It is impossible to take your eyes off the two young actors - Felix Lefebvre and Benjamin Voisin, Timothée Chalamet's French cousins, accompanied by the wonderful Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi. The screenplay is loosely based on Aidan Chambers' novel Dance on My Grave.
