Wider sidewalks, hundreds of trees, rain gardens and a ban on car traffic covering 20 streets. Authorities in Brooklyn, New York, want to redesign the borough, making it more pedestrian-friendly. Brooklyn has seen the largest population growth in recent years, and as a result, borough officials have noted that "the current streetscape does not meet the needs of its primary users - pedestrians, cyclists, and public transit users."
