The spread of anti-Muslim hate rhetoric and incitement to ethnic cleansing in the country is shown in the film "The Venerable W.," available on VOD.MDAG.PL. Although Buddhism at its core is based on non-violence, peace, love and understanding, the world's most peaceful religion also has preachers who incite intolerance. An influential figure and respected Burmese monk known as Venerable Wirathu has been preaching an anti-Islamic message for years in public speeches, sermons, DVD recordings and social media statements, claiming that Muslims, who make up only 4% of Burma's population, threaten the country's security and are at risk of a hostile takeover. He compares them to animals and calls for them to be excluded socially, economically and politically.
