When Czech painter Barbora Kysilkova opened her exhibition at a gallery in Oslo, she believed that her life would change. And it did, although not in the way she had imagined. When two paintings were stolen, she did not know what to think. As it happened, she was given the opportunity to ask the captured robber - the heavily tattooed drug addict Karl-Bertil Nordland - why he did it. The answer was: "Because they were beautiful."

Read the interview with Barbora Kysilkova in Przekrój (in Polish only).

We also encourage you to watch the film that tells the story of this complicated relationship between a painter and the thief of her works.
